Truth be told, figure on the week after you 'pass-away'. Our spouses and kids don't seem to 'like' our cars as much as we do. I'd bet you car will be crushed within a week of your heirs getting the life insurance check.

Just bought a 940 wagon with 225K...4-banger no turbo, original owner.
He told me his Swedish Mechanic told him the motot is good to at least 300K...gotta love that!

 

Over here, a red block does about 300000 miles on a bottom end. Most driving here are on LPG, and that means a head lives for about 100000-200000 miles. On normal fuel the heat is far less, meaning the head can last as long as the bottom.

Over here, most of these cars die of rust: the bottom can rust on several places while the car seems fine on top. Have this treated properly (or a climate where they don't rust) and the car will outlast you, serviced properly.
