I have been the one and only owner of my 940 since the day she was baught. She has 270k miles. The service has been immaculate since. Everything works but the atenna. Still runs great ,just wondering when I should plan on making funeral arangements for it.

Over here, a red block does about 300000 miles on a bottom end. Most driving here are on LPG, and that means a head lives for about 100000-200000 miles. On normal fuel the heat is far less, meaning the head can last as long as the bottom.

Over here, most of these cars die of rust: the bottom can rust on several places while the car seems fine on top. Have this treated properly (or a climate where they don't rust) and the car will outlast you, serviced properly.

Hi
As an indication of the possible life span of Volvo's have a look at the official high milage club http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/hmc/index.shtml
and the unofficial club
http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/miles.shtml
as you can see the highest is Irv Gordon USA 1800S 1966 2474221
which means your car and mine (1991 940SE Turbo 147000+ miles) are still babies.
So here's to many more years of trouble free motoring
Regards
Derrick
