Read my post from Jan 5th 2024 - i have been in the same boat for 3 tears and 30K miles and OI have been pouring in 10 six packs of 6 quarts of oil each the past 3 years and 30K miles. These guys behave known about the issue for 10 years, but they have been concealing it and denying it and continue to do so. One of my cylinders failed 2 weeks ago and the rapier is $10K at a Volvo dealer in OH - no assistance offered by Volvo despite the issue commenced while under certified pre-owned warranty 3 1/2 years ago and despite me having done ALL services by the clock by Volvo dealers. Without another class action lawsuit against them, these pigs won’t budge, unfortunately.
I’ve been speaking with others from this forum via email. Have you submitted a complaint on Report a Safety Problem | NHTSA if not I would do it!!

It’s complete crap!!! I just received ANOTHER email stating that Volvo will not step in to assist bc now I’m out of their “extended warranty parameters” due to mileage not by year. But the issue began PRIOR to this lawsuit and it’s noted in their system from 2022 when my vehicle was at 89k miles, now my vehicle has 107k miles. I’m totally in agreement that something needs done for owners like us!! If you find anything feel free to email me: barnes.anisha@gmail.com
Please add me to the email group to move forward in seeking a remedy from Volvo. We were never notified of an extended warranty offer from Volvo and are now facing the same issue. My email is malloriesimmons@me.com.

Hell, I'm in louisiana......I also had zero idea, but I literally just put 4 quarts of oil into the car within driving one tank of gas....but the kicker, besides also having the sunroof issue, is that I also had the serpintine belt pulley issue wherein it seizes up and no matter what, due to a defect in the timing belt cover, the other belt also ruins your engine as it gets sucked in there and makes the timing belt "jump". I have been babying this car....needing it to last, and was just over 60,000 miles....this is BS....they just lost about 1000 potential customers, as I will make sure no one I encounter ever buys one again. And I have to meet dozens of people a day due to my job. Or at least I did before my cars engine was destroyed. I bought it certified used and put a soft 22,000 miles on it. I definitely put more oil in the car than it received during normal oil changes over it's lifetime. This is unreal. Not to mention all the money paid for comprehensive insurance for a paid off car in louisiana. I have zero at fault accidents period, yet my insurance was 300 a month or just under that the last two years.

My 2016 XC60 failed the oil consumption test on 11/22/23 and I was put on the list to have the piston rings replaced - WHEN parts became available. I checked on the status of parts today and was told it won't be until some time in 2025 before they can repair my car since so many are ahead of mine and they only receive a few parts sporadically. Worse, the warranty to replace the piston rings is tied to me as the owner. Therefore, I cannot sell the car until this work is done. So, I'm stuck with a car that has a known serious problem because the manufacturer isn't supplying the parts. This was my 7th Volvo over the years and I would have otherwise been ready for a new XC60. Sadly, it's now my last Volvo.

I have a 2016 XC90, been letting Volvo know of my oil consumption since Feb 2022! My vehicle failed the test, and now this Volvo extended warranty won’t cover it. Why? Well, I never received anything from Volvo and wasn’t even aware until the service advisor told me to call. A “ticket” was put in with Volvo headquarters and they state that I’m out of the extended warranty, yet I NEVER had any opportunity to even get it since I didn’t receive anything! They want to replace where the current leak is, which is $2600, then do another test! Any help??
I have a 2016 XC90 also. I bought it used from a dealer in NE Ohio. Unfortunately, never heard of the issue prior to now experiencing the it. Bought it with 67K miles, now at 76K. I had the oil changed on 1/25/24, filled with an additional quart after 2.8K miles driven. I just had to add another quart after 1K miles. No leaks. I am going to contact Volvo today for the first time and see what kind of response I get. Please include me also in any additional updates/class action, etc. henryb1021@hotmail.com

I have a 2016 XC60 and am tackling this issue as well. I was keeping an eye on the case in New Jersey, and obviously saw that it was settled privately. I’d love to be included on any communications regarding an additional potential class action. Is there already an established email thread or would folks like me to start one?

Same thing happened to me with my 2016 xc90 T8 that I bought used in Houston at a BMW dealership. It supposedly went through a 100 point service check and was in great shape, but after driving home to Champaign, Illinois the oil light came on the 3rd day. I was in a panic when I realized what was happening. Took it to the dealership and they seemed aware of the situation, and told me that Volvo may pay or at least partially if I had an oil consumption test. But they said that my engine had some leaked and that needed to be repaired first. Almost $3000 later, and after we submitted a ticket to Volvo the engine blew up. Volvo said they wouldn’t pay because there was an extended warranty on the car, but it was from the original owner and was not transferable. $18,000 later and 3 months I got my car back. So much for speeding $3000 on an oil consumption test. In the meantime the roof has been leaking and now my ac only works periodically. They’ve been messing with it for nearly a year and still no luck, as the local dealer doesn’t have a clue and waits till they get instructions from Volvo. Pain in the arse!

Our xc90 caught fire while driving on the highway!! my husband was driving it and the Police had to rescue him!! Volvo canada didn’t even answer and our dealer washed his hands from any responsibility. That was So much of a life-threatening situation and I feel, as consumers, we require accountability from the dealership and Volvo.

Our Volvo 2016 XC90 just blew a valve and Volvo saying will require complete new engine rebuild at this point. Estimates from $8-10,000. Dealers are recommending its not worth it and should just dump the car. This is ridiculous. Started having the engine oil challenges about a year ago. Have added (considerable) oil on three occasions immediately when got engine warnings. Have been meticulous with Service & Maintenance and car only has 78K miles. Unbelievable that Volvo has not stood behind and fixed this issue as frequently as its been cited her and in other forums. Definitely interested in any legal actions which might be going on. Having trouble finding any active efforts nationwide or in my state (VA).

I am definitely interested in this!!! I have a 2016 xc60 with this same issue! I also have the gas tank issue which I’m finding out is another $6k problem as well. This is bs! I will NEVER own another Volvo after this and the problems I had with my 2014 s60 as well. My Email is Amkneese427@icloud.com

I have a 2016 XC90 T6 Inscription and still have the same issue even though my car was at the dealer last September for the same issue. I didn’t have to pay anything since it was still under the warranty but how the engine oil light showed up after 3 months! I’m interested being in a part of the class action so please include me on the list. My email is yokotakayo@hotmail.com
