Want to replace my rear brakes on my 2000 S40 next weekend, but want to make sure I have all the right tools before.

Any special tools I need, I've heard someone mention a tool to screw the piston in??

Also, what brand of pads/calipers/rotors does everyone recommend for my car?

Lastly, any tips or issues that I might run into would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know what's best for your car but I will definitely use only OEM parts. try www.autohausaz.com, they sell it for fairly cheap. I got my rotors and brake pads from them and have to replace all four of these on my 2002 S40 1.9T.
Do you know where you can find detail instructions on how to do this job? I use to have a BMW and they have a lots of DIYs, but after switching cars, i haven't been able to locate detial DIYs for the Volvo.
Thanks in advance.

i changed the rotors and pads front and rear on my 2001 s40. it wasnt much of a job as long as you give yourself time and take one step at a time. try this link to get great advice. the s40 is very similar to the car used on the site.
http://www.2carpros.com/how_to/how_to_replace_brakes.htm One thing is that the brake caliper fluid hose has a retaining clip on the volvo which needs to be disconnected if removing the caliper. anymore info needed feel free to pm me..
oh and use volvo parts....lot easier, fit better...and no noise from them like you may get from other brands...

My 2000 Volvo S40 has a set screw on my back rotors and I don't know how to remove the rotors from the back. Any ideas?
