Boot/trunk Won't Open

Hi Everyone,

My Volvo S40 D 2.0 2007 boot won't open. Not sure if its connected, but the glove box is also faulty. The latch on the glove box is broken. I managed to get it open from the side by pressing in the latch. The light in the glove is always on.

Would this have anything to do with the boot not opening. It just stopped all of a sudden.

Yesterday I unfortunately reversed my car into a pole (Boot wouldn't open before I did this). I need to change the rear tail light cover as it's smashed. Only issue is I can't access the boot to do so.

Any help would be appreciated. Thansk

if you fold the rear seats forward, you might be able to get into the boot to manually operate the catch (or change the tail light cover), it may be something simple like the linkage from the boot catch, or it may be the solenoid that operates the catch or it may be a broken wire in the wiring at the boot hinge

Thanks grendel. Just bought a replacement rear lens, so I'll see how I get on.
