Today I ran my car for quite a while around town. It ran fine, the temp was normal, there was plenty of antifreeze, gasoline, and oil in the car. However, when we were traveling home we were idling at an intersection and as I went to accelerate, the car just died. It would not restart after that. It was getting power and the starter motor was working, but it just wouldnt fire up. We had to push it down to the grocery store and be towed home. When I got home, I tried starting it again but the battery seemed to be drained at this point. Tried jumping it, car had plenty of charge but wouldnt fire up. Now if I try starting it, it just seems to drain the battery.
It is quite cold here in Sweden now, but I havent had any problems with it up to this point with it quitting on me like that. I thought it could be an electrical problem with an alternator, but also a carburator problem. I am not very familiar with Volvos, especially older ones.
