We bought a new S40 2.4 in Late May and have been having trouble with the rear passenger floor becoming wet. We can't figure out where it is coming from. Is anyone else having this problem?

I currently purchased a 2004.5 S40 T5 and had the same problem with water draining into the passenger side of the car. Turns out it was a drain hose for the sunroof that was causing water to drain in the cabin.
Blumensh your problem could also be the a/c drain clogged and draining into the car.

I also bought an S40 T5 in May and had a flooded rear passenger area. Dealer tried to say that I was leaving the rear window open. They had it for a week for "testing" and never found anything. Meanwhile there was water above the top of the carpet for almost a month. I went to another dealer and they immediately found that the AC drainage was routed under the seat instead of outside the car. (I believe that's what they said.
It's been a while) Anyway, I got it back the next day and they had me return the next week to get all of the rear carpeting replaced. She's good as new.
I guess it all depends on how trustworthy and experienced your dealership is.

Laurel Volvo is great.

Hope this helps anyone doing research.

I have heard of about 10 of the new S40's with the same problem.

I faced the same problem with the AC drainage, the water flood the driver carpet and the rear passenger carpet. Got the whole carpet replaced. That was about a month since I got my car.

I have a brand new S40 2005. I had a serious flood on the passenger side and the rear as well. Brought the car back to Volvo. Seems the "weep" holes in the sunroof are clogged and the only remedy Volvo has is to clean out the lines every few months. They are unable to repair this design flaw. I am going to wait for the next flood and file legal notice that I will file a lemon law grievance in NJ. I have also had my car there 5 time for the radio and the seat belt sensors are also messed up. I am so sorry I bought a Volvo.
