VOLVO HOOD STUCK WON'T OPEN

It's been a long while since I last posted in this forum. The last post was in 2009 on my "2010 VOLVO XC60 - Engine Oil & Oil Filter Change"

2013 VOLVO XC60 T6

If your Volvo hood won't open after you pull the hood release lever from inside your car, it could be the RUBBER HOOD STOP needs adjusting. You will find this rubber stop on each side of the engine compartment. The rubber stop keeps the hood snug and level on each side when closed. The hood also has two latches in the front of the engine compartment. After you pull the hood release lever from inside your car, the hood should pop up a couple inches to allow access to the hood safety latch under the hood (usually found on the right side on American Volvos). If the hood doesn't pop up and seems to be stuck, it could be the RUBBER HOOD STOP isn't pushing up enough to pop open the hood and needs to be adjusted.

OPENING THE HOOD
First, to get your hood open, you'll need a buddy to pull up on the hood while you pull the hood release lever from inside the car. If you don't have someone to help you, pull the hood release lever once. The hood should pop up enough to wedge a fat screwdriver between the hood and the headlight to apply upward pressure on the hood. Then pull the hood release lever a second time and the hood should pop up to allow access to the hood safety latch. Pull the safety catch lever to the side to open the hood.

ADJUSTING THE RUBBER HOOD STOP
To adjust the rubber hood stop upward, turn it counterclockwise to unscrew to increase the height of the stop on the side that gets stuck. You may only need to increase the height a fraction of an inch (one full turn). Keep raising the height of the rubber hood stop until the problem goes away. This should do the trick. I hope this helps. Let me hear your feedback.
