I bought an (awesome) 1987 Volvo 740 GLE wagon recently. I was getting the oil changed today when one of the workers came out complementing the car and asking if it was “one of the ones with the cannonball engines with red or brown paint?” I said i had no idea, but he was welcome to look and popped the hood. He opened the hood and immediately called to his coworkers who cam over and told me to come out and see what i had. He told me that when they made these engines (for a reason i forget) they used old cast iron artillery/cannonballs to cast the engines, and the engine is worth more than the car. Ive been trying to research and cant find anything like this, was hoping a forum would be helpful? Anybody know anything?
