Ok fellow owners. I have a transmission with a rounded central drain plug screw/bolt. That's the smaller central one with the Torx.
Can anybody tel me what it's made of? I think (hoping) it's aluminium.
I want to drill it out so I can then get at the larger (oil-level) drain plug with its 17mm Allen key. I'm hoping that I can use this 17mm to beak it out and then I can remove the central residual nut on the bench.
Has anybody out there done it this way?
Any potential pitfalls?
Also I presume it's possible to replace the cheap central screw/bolt with a longer headed bolt so I can alway get at it with a socket.
Has anybody done this?
Is it a special thread?
