A "check engine light" illuminates on the instrument panel of my 2001 X Country (V70) at regular intervals indicating the need for scheduled maintenance. Since I elect to change the oil in my car, the message remains. I am unable to recycle the light. (Vs. paying a Volvo dealer to change the oil at a much greater cost and having the mechanic cycle the message off). I recently had some warranty work performed & the dealer told me I would have to pay a fee to have the message light turned off. This seemed ridiculous!
Can anyone tell me how to recycle the "check engine light"?
