Is it possible to re-tension my 940's front seat belts? Both front belts pull off their reels nice and smoothly to full length, but when allowed to roll back, both stop about 7" - 10" short and hang loosely from the reels.

The car has just passed it's MOT at the end of July, so the garage must be satisfied that the belts are safe. But I prefer the belts to be fully tensioned and not flap about when they're not in use.

The Haines comicbook tells how to remove the belts, but that's all.

Thanks, melter

Is there any later models whose belts are the same as the 940's?

I'm thinking about a trip to the Scrapyard, if I can't re-tension these belts

I don't think so if you see a 960 check it out and see if they look the same.

Yes you can.
I wore out the drivers belt on my first 940. I got a belt from a junk yard that had the pre tensioner charge set off. Owner said I could not put my good tensioner on his good belt. Wrong. It just takes some serious tinkering.
