Hi,

I'm new to the Forum. I have a 2004 C70, and the top isn't going all the way up. My mechanic has traced it to one of the microswitches on the left hand side. The part number is 8628949. It's no longer available in the U.S.

Can anyone point to someone who either has one, or might possibly rebuild the one I have?

It appears this microswitch is currently hard to source so it may be worthwhile trying to fix the old one. You will need a multimeter and to be able to activate the switch to check if the circuit is opening and closing. Most microswitches are factory sealed but some can be opened by drilling out carefully a couple of rivets. If opening seems impossible it is worth drilling a small hole and squirting in some RP7 or similar to free up and clean the contacts and then operate the switch in different positions to distribute the oil and drain out any excess. Thanks for the tips. I'll keep looking, but will pass this on to my mechanic. I wouldn't try this myself without a replacement handy!

There is a strong liklihood that trying to fix it will finish up completely destroying the microswitch so best still source a replacement, possibly from a wrecked C70, if a new one is hard to find.

In case anyone else in S. FL has a problem with a top, after several ineffectual shipe, we found Volvo Stop and Paul was able to fix it!
