I own a 1997 2.5 Turbo with 79000 miles.Today whilst pulling out onto a dual carriageway and reached about 60 the car just suddenly lacked power as if someone had cut the throttle cable. It pulled but without any of the power accociated with the turbo.Tha lambda light came on . It works OK but wont tick over and drives like a non turbo car. Help is this bad news?

First thing to do is have the codes pulled and take it from there.

It should inform you of both mechanical or electrical faults.

Update - Hi Tech - this was caused by one of your pet hates. The throttle body which is mechanical on mine was at fault and needed cleaning followed by a diagnostic reset. Not quite sure how this could have caused lack of power but certainly made a difference!

cheers

Im glad you got it figured out. When they are super dirty they throw off the settings in the computer. Then the computer compensates for the diffrence.
