We're about to get a V70 2002 from the dealer. He says since 2001, the players are designed to only take factory recordings--no home mixes. This is after I had a little problem with a prospective purchase. Any truth to this?

My current car doesn't have an autochanger, I'm hoping to stick an Alpine unit in later on which should cost between £100 and £250 depending on where I purchase it, this one is MP3 capable and will also play writable discs. I just need to buy a small wiring adapter and it will plug in and work with the Volvo head unit.

A 'factory' volvo changer will cost £400+ also made by alpine...
