is it worth getting an OEM catalytic converter and DIY or would it be cheaper to get an aftermarket cat and have a shop install. Anyone know where I could get one?

thanks

It is about 50/50
If you feel like doing it then buy the Volvo one and do it.
If not then go the other way.

I would recomend going the Volvo way.

This may sound of a devilish advice
but if your O2 sensor doesnot go through the cat converter, replace the cat with a sport bullet.

Effect to the environment = minimal or none at all.
Effect to your car =

The O2 sensor mounts in the CAT.

The Volvo Parts are the best but expensive.

I have heard of many people having problems with the aftermarket cats.
Make sure it is a 3 way aftermarket cat if you go that way.

I believe Tech has mentioned this before that you could either go to IPD at www.ipdusa.com or go online for the stuff at ebay.com

Hope you get what you need.

Could they just add a bung and O2 sensor on an aftermarket downpipe. the cheapest i could find the replacement stock OEM was around 350, an aftermarket was like 50 bucks plus install. i already purchased an aftermarket, hope it works.

thanks for all of the advise
