I have a 2001 V40 2.0T and the brakes are real bad for the first 30 seconds/ 200 meters. I have to stand on the brakes to get the car to stop. The dealer has changed the vacuum hose and valve with no improvement. Any suggestions.
On sending the car into the dealers workshop again they now want to change the vacuum pump at a cost of US400. There is no recall here and I am told that the vacuum pump is located in the engine compartment near the steering column.Any ideas.
Sent the car back to the dealer with a copy the American recall which I downloaded from the net. As a goodwill gesture the pump was changed for free and the problem no longer exist.
