I've got a 98 S40 2.0L and when idling in drive the steeringwheel and dash vibrate violently. I have tried the usual fixes (cleaning injectors, correcting timing) but the problem is still there... Anyone have any ideas on what it might be?

Thanks

Check the engine mounts the r/s is most likely the main one causing the problem but don't rule out the rest of them.

Thanks, is that something I can check myself, or a job for the service guys?

The R/S mount you should be able to check out your self.Look where the bolt goes throught the body to hold the mount. If the upper part of the rubber is hitting where the bolt goes throught the center it is bad.The other mounts you should have checked out by a shop.
