Probably a strange question but do all XC90 (or even all Volvo's for that matter) have a rattly sounding tailgate closure.
All the doors close with, all I can describe as a firm clonk sound apart from the tailgate which just sounds like there is something loose and doesn't have that firm sound.

in my experience a rattle means the inner trim is loose
