Hello all,

I have a 2001 S60 2.4t - for the past few months, every once in a while the engine revs will surge up & down while idleing either in traffic or at a light - and then stall. It doesn't happen all of the time, though seems to be happening with more regularity lately.

Is this a common problem? Is there a "quick fix", or should I take the car to the dealership?

I appreciate any help!

Sounds like the dreaded ETM failure........ Take it to a shop... Cross your fingers too. It's rather expensive to repair if that is indeed what it is......... (ETM = Electronic Throttle Module)

Start off by cleaning the throttle body.
That should take care of the problem.I don't think it is bad yet it just needs to be cleaned.

Thank you for the information - I'll try cleaning the throttle body. Any recommendations on what type of cleaning solution to use? I wouldn't want to damage the turbo...!

You can use carb cleaner.
Remove the throttle body and clean it.
Make sure you buy a new gasket first.
