I am trying to read the flash codes on my 1994 850. It seems I can get flash codes from positions A1, A3, A7,B2,and B5 but when trying to access the A2 position there is no response (not even the 1-1-1 no problem code). Any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated.
( The main problem with the car is that it abrubptly stopped running while driving- engine turns but does not catch and overdrive arrow constantly flashes)

You could have a problem with your PNP switch.A2 is for the engine control module.I am inserting a link for pulling codes see if it helps you. Also there might be a communication problem between the ecm and the tcm if the arrow is flashing.

I was able to get a code from the A1 position which I believe is the transmission link. Code was 223, "throttle position sensor". I was not able to any response with the jumper in the A2 position.

Thanks for your help

The throttle position sensor could stop it from running. But shouldn't stop it from reading codes from the ECM.
