Hi,
Any body out there with ideas & a solution for my small problem i.e noisy in tank fuel pump car runs very well but the pump gets a high pitched hum the tone of the hum changes when lights or other electrics are switched on, this is not a problem unless the pump is liable to let me down.

Thanks J.Don

Some pumps are just noisy. Some were not noisy and it means it is on its way out.

These are very easy to replace. New ones overly expensive but a wrecking yard is the place to go. Ask them to test it before you buy. Time consuming getting into the tank but very straight forward once into the tank. Be thankful you don't have to drop the tank.

Volvo did good that way by not having to drop the tank to replace.

And also the main pump under the car will get really loud when the intank pump stops working. Then there is to much pressure put on the main pump when the pre-pump(intank pump) stops working.
