Howdy, all. Newbie here, with zero prior experience with import cars. I'm trying to understand the market for the 1800es. From what I can tell, it seems that these cars are most popular when they are restored to original rather than modified, or "updated" in some way. That leads me to my question. I have two solid cars in need of restoration. One is complete and original. My obvious intention is to keep it stock all the way. The other car is complete but had the entire front half replaced due to an accident many years ago. The work was beautifully done. However, the front was replaced with a '70 model. I will have to get a Kansas issued VIN, as the only numbers on the car are from the '70. I assume this would have an impact on any collector car value. So, I'm wondering if it would still be best to restore to original, or whether this hurts the value to the point that I could consider some upgrades and modifications without fear of losing value. I just don't know how buyers for these cars would feel about it. Thanks so much.
