1990 740 // Drove it to the store the other day.. All was fine. Got back into the car, started it, and now the wipers wont stop. Wiper switch is OFF. Only way I could stop them, it to pull the fuse.
So.... Relay somewhere? Wishfull thinking I know. Likely.. the wiper switch in the steering column?
IF the is the case... please... detailed instructions on what I need to know to get to it? And... any special tools? Well, besides steering wheel puller. I should have that. Or something that will work. I am a lawnmower mechanic goin on... bit over 41 years now.. geez.. time flys. Anyway... I have tools, tig/mig, lathe, mill. I sometimes MAKE what I need.
...
Secondary issue, if can also tell me how the instrument panel comes out. Odometer hasnt worked for about 20 years either. I dont know how to get that apart/out to see about fixing that too.... But not really concerned. Wipers thou.. ya need to fix that asap please..!

somewhere in the wiper unit there is a contact that is made when you turn the wiper on, if when you take away the power this doesnt stop either the wiper isnt finishing at the right place, or something is keeping the wiper activation live, so its either going to be at the motor end or the steering column switch end (or the wiring in between).its not something i have had so i cant get a lot more detailed.

Thanks for the reply.. But.. I hadnt drove the car for a few days, got in it, started the motor, plugged in the fuse so i COULD use the wipers, and it is all working as it should now...
Fixed its self..!
