Hi,

I have a Volvo V70 -08 2,5T where right back lock case is broken, it wount lock with remote control. According to a local Volvo dealer the lock case should have Id : 31253280, a scrap yard says that it need to be 31253288? I already have a lock case with ID 31253280, so would this lock work or does it need to have the exact nr?

chances are its just the electro magnetic actuator (solenoid) that has failed, it might be possible just to swap the actuator onto the old lock from the spare one you have.

sometimes the fault is just that the existing lock requires lubrication, if it doesnt move far enough it can sometimes not reach the lock position, then lubrication can cure it.

Yes, that should not be that hard to do, here is a video on how to do it :

But I need to be able to check the problem while the parts is separated. Also this will take some time to do and the door on the car will not be able to close during this time so I need to find a garage.

Replacing the entire lock case with a product with another nr might work but it might also not and the problem may first show after a while. It is after all alot of work to get to this lock case.
