The center brake light (third brake light, 3rd brake light, high-top brake light) lens on my 2014 XC60 broke in a car wash. The light itself still worked, but the lens was broken off, making it look crappy.

The replacement part was $225 from the dealer, $150 on eBay, and $68 on swedishautoparts.com. Needless to say, I chose the lowest price.

Surprisingly, I received a genuine Volvo center brake light. Although it has the same part number as the original, it lacks the mechanical snap-in mount that's toward the right. Therefore, I had to find a way to plug the hole.

The assembly is held in by three (left, right, and center) 10mm nuts that are underneath rubber seals.

The center mount is at a difficult angle (it's a different angle than the two mounting screws on the ends of the assembly), making it the trickiest of the three nuts to remove. In fact, my socket and socket adapter got stuck inside. I found no way to remove those pieces. I hope that they won't rattle around too much.

There's a notch that fits into the brake light assembly to the right of the center hole. Since my socket fell over that notch, I had no way to reach it. I tried to get it through the right hole, but I simply couldn't grip it with any tools that I have.

Overall, the repair went well. My only concern is that the hole where the original snap-in tab might eventually leak.

I've attached images of the car with the brake light removed and of the difference between the original and replacement part.
