While replacing the battery in my 01 S60, I had tightened the positive battery cable and my ratchet came into contact with part of the sheet metal inside the trunk and sparks went FLYIN! Now the trunk button doesn't work, sunroof is inoperable and the front and rear courtesy lights will not turn on when switched on. I checked al the fuses and all of them are fine. Any other suggestions?

Try a UEM Reset. (upper electronics module)

Begin boosted content:

To reset the door/window computer, do the following:

| Close all of the doors and hood.

| Key in position II engine not running.

| Hold both the driver window and passenger

| window switches in the driver door panel in the closed or

| up position for 5 to 8 seconds after the windows are closed.

| Release buttons.

| Remove the ignition key.

| Operated the remote twice. lock/unlock lock/unlock.

| This will reset the UEM brain.

| This can correct faulty operation of the sunroof

| and/or erratic door lock function.

|

| Using the key in the drivers door to lock/unlock

| lock/unlock will also reset the UEM ----

| Upper Electronic Module.

No idea if this yahoo's method is the real deal or just BS, but there is a reset sequence out there.

Good luck!

Molder Volvo's are hell when it comes to the sparky stuff.

Some days I wish I could have the blessing of 240 simplicity with S60R performance in one damn car...

Now If I could only find that magic lamp-

If I can get a job with Volvo after I graduate from college with my Mechanical Engineering degree...I will make a car like that. 240 simplicity with S60R performance. Sounds like it will sell well haha.
