I am restoring a 91 240. In the trunk, in the right hand wheel well, is a black plastic hose, about 2 ft long. Maybe 1/4 inch diameter. It is just sitting there. Not connected. For the life of me I can't see what it could, or should, be connected to.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I should have specified that the car is a sedan. It looked like the hose wants to go through the drain hole in the well....

Cleaning the trunk of my sedan today and found the same hose had come off. It connects to the bottom of the rubber seal in the fuel inlet. line runs down and out the bottom of the right well to direct any fuel spills out of the car

That is what it is, all right. I restored mine to its proper position.
