Hello,

i own a 1986 Volvo 740 Turbo and was driving home this afternoon and discovered a few engine warning lights illuminate

1 is a green light with the number 5 illuminated
another is a picture of a radiator with wavey lines allong it half way down
and another is a amber lit light of a triangle with a car and squiggily wheel skid marks behind it

and last but not least my ABS warning light has illuminated

they all came on in funny intervals the abs light and the skid marks one came on first then came the number 5 one then came the radiator one

ust for your records my car has the AW71 Automatic not a manual now my understanding of the green 5 light is OD on a manual Yea?

so i have a fair idea bout the green 5 but as for the other 3 i have no idea

any help would be greatly apprecieated

You're right about the '5' light. The triangular light sounds like a traction control warning- maybe. Regardless, it sounds like you a short somewhere in you engine wiring loom rather than the lights warning you of something malfunctioning.

hmm do you know of any websites that explain what all the indicator lights in a 740 do my manual tells me jack Sh** LOL Dosnent mention things like abs and the radiator light and a heap of others that my car has

yes it was a Short quite a Bad one the prev owners had a alarm system wired in the car which ive since removed and they wired it into the 12v power source of the ECU yes the ECU and the ABS Controller

Consequently it destroyed the ECU and ABS Controller which explained why all those lights were appearing

i since removed the alarm and spent a royal fortune on a 2nd hand ECU and ABS controller car runs beautifully now :D:D:D:D
