Anyone have any details about XC90 brakes that make more
noise in cold weather (below 20 F). I have a '03 that sure as
the cold in February in Wisconsin, will squeek rather loud as
it get's colder.

Hi 44gsi,

Thanks for your kind offer.

I would like to ask you something and perhaps you know the answer as long as you are working in a Volvo dealer:

My car has not the "Auto lights on" feature. I have to say that it has no Bi-Xenon, and if i'm right this option is only linked to Bi-Xenon.

I do not understand why volvo alogen cars can not have this same option.

The question is if is it possible activate it via software in VADIS, or should it be possible to install it aftermarket (expensive??).

You know that Volvo does not inform customers about all the diferent car-settings that can be selected by reprograming the software. We have to discover that in the forums. And perhaps this also another case.

Actually the car has a light sensor to illuminate de dash when dark, so perhaps is just a matter of easy connections?

Many thanks for your help.

 I to am new to this forum. I have purchased my XC 90 this past summer pciking the vehicle up in Sweden and driving it around then returning home after 2 weeks. I like the car, but have realized a few short comings once the weather turned colder. My radio has a life of it's own until it has warmed up (~30 minutes on very cold days) is this normal? looking for insight from others that may be experiencing similiar problems. I didn't purchase the upgraded sound package - only the standard.

I also have found the information regading the Bi-xenon headlights very informative. I used the infomation I read to adjust the hieght of the beam - they were too low from the factory...

I very much appreciate the help this forum brings...

Tx,

I have a question about the battery life of the 2006 XC90 V8. We just picked ours up last November and have less than 3000 miles on it. Just last night we went to run errands and the battery was completely dead. We called the Volvo dealer the next day and they sent ADAC out to take it in. Before they took it, they tried to jump start it just to see if it was just a dead battery, and it was. The ADAC gentleman said that the power lines that run from our house to the house across the street may have drained the battery dry. Now it only had sat for one day without being driven and no lights were left on in the vehicle. We took a trip for over one week and the vehicle sat in the same spot and we had no problems. Can power lines really drain the battery? (we are going to take it to the dealer tomorrow just to make sure...)

Hi Thanks for the offer - can you help perhaps?

I have just purchased a 2005 XC90 2.5T Auto. On a hill I stop and the car begins to roll backwards as if in NEUTRAL. Discussing this with the Volvo dealer in Cape Town where I live I am told that this is a design feature to reduce gas emissions which sounds like a load of rubbish to me. All auto cars I have owned stop on a hill in drive and do nothing - just stay put and do not roll backwards.

Could you let me know what you think please? Thanks in advance

Kris

Hello 440GSi -

I have a question about the channel selector(s) on the radio of my '04 xc90 T6 - Numbers 1 though 6 do not light up! Is this an easy fix?

Thanks,

Greg V

I posted a question earlier today regarding transmission issues with the XC90.
I purchased my 2004 XC90 T6 from Sweden in 2003. My transmission has failed at 60,000 miles and its no longer under warranty. I was told it will cost me $6,000 to fix.
Is this normal for a car that's only 4 years old?

I have a 2006 XC90 2.5T and experience the same problem with holding on a hill.

My enquiries of 2 dealers came up with the same answer - the vehicle being over 2 tonne in weight will not hold on a hill. Evidently nothing can be done to fix this problem.

My thoughts were to increase the idle speed - but this would then create an issue when on level ground.

Nothing can be done because there is nothing wrong, I understand that most auto cars will hold on a hill in drive and am sure yours will on a slight inclination but am afraid it is just a characteristic of the vehicle you have. Had this complaint before and as to date dont know of any fix.

Hi
I have just joined the forum due to problems with my XC90.
Uneven rear tyre wear is terrifying, on our 6th tyre in under 20,000 miles!
Also there has been an oil leak in engine, necessitating engine out twice already!
Having looked on internet there also seem to be recurring electrical problems - luckily none of these yet.
Our dealer wishes us to change to a new model - are these problems with a certain series (mines is 2007) or am i likely to jum out of frying pan into the fire!
Any coments gratefully received.

Hi there.

I had a simmillar problem with my radio/cd player. It would not switch on when I wanted it then it would turn its self on a few minutes later. Also it would not switch off even with the ignition off and keys out, doors locked and alarm on.

Took it to Volvo as after a couple of weeks nothing would work including: radio, cd, sat nav, GSM phone, reversing sensors.

It transpired that the Infotainment unit behind the dash had gone faulty. Luckily for me it was under warranty as the unit alone costs £800.00 plus labour & v.a.t.
