Hi, I'm new to the fourm but have owned a 2001 T4 for 18 months and I would like to know if it's at all possible to get the turbo to kick in a bit later mabey 3,500 RPM ????

Will this improve fuel econimy/performance ?

Also I was thinking of getting a variboost controller, will this break my car ? Are these things any good?

Any help appreciated.........

Boost controllers are not good on Volvos because of the amount of electronics. You're better off calling a company that sells ECU upgrades, addressing your concerns, and see what they suggest. Theres a bunch of sites in the general forum in "links to sites".

You cannot use a MBC on your 2001 T4. The reason is because 99+ Volvo's are running ME7 and ME7 doesn't like MBC's. 98 and before Volvo's can use MBC's and be fine.

You need to get an ECU upgrade and there are many out there that will tune your 2001 T4. This will raise your boost levels too not too much, possibly from like 5PSI to 12PSI, or whatever your stock boost is to lets say 12PSI or 15PSI.

In my humble opinion it's best to keep everything (fuel mix/ignition timing/turbo) controlled/joined together by the ECU alone.

You're in the UK so talk to Hamish at Chip Tuning on 01527 577710 and don't forget to mention the forum!
