hi everybody just a quirey really,i have just bought a c70 t5 gt auto conv,it is under a 3months warrienty, you do expect a few problems within that time, within my second month i found it diffuclut to select drive, all of a sudden had no drive, car had to be towed, the is put into a gearbox specalist, where a major strip down and rebuild is taking place, obvious no cost to me,fault being the clucth as broken on the first gear, this car as done barely 40,000 and ask the question to the mechanic should this have gone so quick,he replied as the car is very low milaged its probley been mostly town work which does put a strain on a automatic,if the car was high milage which could mean alot of motorway driving this would be good for this gearbox,so his he saying this car is no good for town work. has any body got any view or is this just a load off old guff?

Hmm normally I would say that sounds like BS, but since your clutch did go out and ur transmission is being rebuilt, I would say what your mechanic had to say sounds good.

He maybe giving you a line of BS to keep your worrying at bay, but then again you have to give him some credit, he is a mechanic after all and not a detective.

My transmission is riden pretty hard (I love to pass ricers light to light) and still runs strong, then again I only have 40k miles myself, so only time will tell if I have to replace stuff riding it hard. I'd have to say someone had to ride your car pretty damn crazy to ruin the transmission at 40k.

I'm with QueadlunnRau - I had a 2000 HPT coupe (best backside of any car I've seen), and when I was looking around for the c70 I came accross one which had the tranny replaced at under 100000K (60,000 miles). I think that when you drive them, get have a tendancy to stamp on the pedals from the lights (no matter how mild you are to start with), and that long term it does the tranny no good. Was it 40,000Km, or 40,000 miles? If it was the latter, then probably understandable. If the former, sounds strange.

hi guys have had a bit more gen on this rebuild, one of the clucthes broke up then caused extensive damage within the gearbox,i never had a automatic before and wonder if it was anythink that i done that may have caused this but been asurred that it is not.they have had the car almost one month and they are starting to rebuild it all the parts had to be delivered from amsterdam,my question is should the car drive better once all done because its a shame to spend £2000,00 and not get any benefit what do you think ? :gitara:

its an update, gearbox is completed and the car was running fine foe 15 miles they had to put it in the main dealers to have the computor recallibrated as if left the car would run the new gearbox on the old setting which could damaged the new gearbox, they started to down load and now the car doesnt even start. 2 days on they have now connected the car to the internet and is talking to gruittenburg or a place that sounds like that any,i phone up tonight to find that some one has hit the car and now they are replacing the front bumper at a cost of £500 but there is no sight yet on having my car back, it is going into 5 weeks
