as those who've seen my garage pics know, i have done some mods to my s40. i was at a local mod cruise last night and had the embarresment of sitting in the side of the road for an hour while the local authorities crawled all over the car trying to pick faults. they only found three luckily. the front number plate which i knew about and acept the fine, my window tint that i was given an advisory, and my back bumper having a gap from the body. it's supposed to be like that! my motorbike outrider, ben, was royally done. back tyre was too worn. had to ride home on a 750 sports bike at 50mph! and 3 points. just be carefull when you do anything. the laws are getting tighter and they're not letting anything go. :offtopic:

Oh dear, i started reading this and was about to say dont worry about it you should see what the bikers have to put up with........but it appears you already know. Were they propper traffic plod or locals? The locals or "beat" cops are usualy quite ignorant to road traffic law and often get things wrong, traffic plod are usualy spot on.

Where did this all happen?

What was wrong with the number plate? Did you get any points or just a fine? How much?

I've been away in North Wales on business this week (picture postcard pretty) & couldn't believe how many different fixed & mobile speed traps there were in the last 30 miles of the journey. You could lose your licence in the space of 5 miles if you didn't control your right foot!

Tell Biker Ben to cut out doing doughnuts - between the cost of the tyres & the fines, he'll need to win the lottery pretty soon!

the plate wasn't on the bumper in plain sight. obscured was the word they used. plus i got a friendly warning about the window tint. it was 46% so just within the 40% limit, but should be 70%. picky or what? i only got a £30 fine. annoying. i'm flat broke already!

What you mean is: "the local police usually turn a blind eye to people who just want to enjoy motoring." They are by no means ignorant of traffic laws, just a lot more tolerant than Traffic Branch. If you want to prove this theory, tell them the next time they stop you.
