We are trading in our F350 and our XC90 2.5 5cyl AWD is becoming our "big" vechicle.

I wanted to get some feedback on people's experiences with towing, top carriers and hit mounted cargo carriers.

How would the XC90 do towing a 5X12 open utility trailer? Most cases it wouldn't be heavily loaded. Just stuff like tables, chairs, coolers, gas cans etc. On occassion I would need to put my snowmobile on the trailer to take for servicing.
I am getting about 22mpg on the freeway how much would the trailer affect this?

Next, the XC90 has two rooftop bars running from front to back. Do I need other equiptment in order to mount a rooftop carrier. What carrier works best?

Last, I will have to put a trailer hitch on the vechicle so I'm assuming the bumper will have to be cut. Has anyone used the hitch mounted steel cargo carriers. They are rated to carry 500 pounds and would be a good choice when I just have a few items to tote to the lakeplace.

I've got an '05 XC90 2.5 that I use to tow around my 10' enclosed trailer for the kids' karting equipment. 2 karts, my big tool box, air tank, gas cans, stands, chairs, etc, etc, etc and I've never had a problem.
