I have recently purchased a 2000 Volvo C70, whch has the 3cd SC 901 stereo. the cd player does not read any cd's when entered ( i have tried a variety) and the casette does not appear to be warped. i have spoken to the dealer who said they did not test the cd, but the original owner removed cds when he left the car. i have tried a lens cleaning cd but it wont read this either. there is no error message, it just keeps trying to read the disks. help!

I dunno if this is going to be much help, however I have the sc900 and have a similar problem, it would play most original CD's fine, however if I made my own CD either from MP3s or a straight copy of an original disc the player would continuously try and seek the disc, was very annoying and I have no answer for you as I never had the situation resolved, I tried many many different types of blank CDs and different speeds all to no avail. It doesnt bother me now as I have my iPod installed.

hi there, i dont have an exact answer to your problem, but rather an alternative.
i recently bought an 850 wagon with a dodgy cd player. i planned to replace the unit, but the cost was too much. i found a piece of kit on ebay that solved my problem. it s called an FM MODULATOR, and it plugs into your lighter socket and transmits through your radio. if you have your music on computer, you just download the tracks you want onto a storage pen (USB) and plug it into the unit and press play. no more need for cd wallets in your car door pockets etc, as a
1 GB pen will hold around 300 tracks, its brilliant!! AND IT WORKS
just type FM MODULATOR in ebay.

they cost from £10 (would recommend VR8 £25) and a storage pen 1 GB are around £20.
you can simply add or delete tracks as and when you want. :57:

Thanks for the advice, i may well do that. the only thing that grates me slightly is the fact that i bought the car which was advertised as having a working cd player.
that said i may just cut my losses on this and remember for next time. thanks again

I will say this.

The stock Volvo Headunit will not play MP3's that are burned onto a CD-R.

Also the Volvo Headuint will not play CD-RW's.

You must convert these MP3's to WAV format.

Or your other solution is to get an Ipod and buy an Ipod adapter then you can listen to you MP3's through your Volvo Headunit.
