I have a 2001 V70, which thankfully now is running beautifully at 92,000, after having replaced brakes, shocks, valve body in transmission, throttle body, timing belt, water pump, tires, AC compressor, motor mounts exhaust system, air filter, plugs, radiator fan,& fuel pump. Now I am going to drive her into the sunset,or 300,000 miles, or whichever comes first, and definitely will not replace with another Volvo now that Ford has replaced the best thing, the motor and god knows what else, which brings me to my point. At the top of the Forum, there is an ad for Cybert tire, which used to be a decent place, now run by crooks. I had to get hold of a Continental Extreme tire,as I run them and got my originals from Tire Rack who I always use. They were out and I needed one tire. They cost about $115 or so at Tire Rack. Cybert wanted $185. When I called back and he knew I was the same guy he said they were $250. With a bad attitude as well. Unbelievable crooks. Stay away. Order from Tire Rack and have them sent to your favorite garage to install.

Hi Jon,

My name is John Everett. I am the owner of Cybert Tire and Car Care. I was just reading your Blog Entry in which you called our family business " a place run by crooks". Jon, My family has operated Cybert Tire for over 90 Years. We service the needs of our customers and thier cars. Perhaps you should give me a call and we can discuss your concerns. (212-265-1177).

In regards to your inquiry on a Continental Extreme Tire I offer you the following response.

Tire prices vary and at times we have great deals on certain items and at other times, tires might be in short supply which is caused by strong demand which results in limited supplies through our vendors and higher prices

If we quoted you a price of $185.00 per tire, this includes the mount, balance, new valve and tire dispostal.

In the blog you stated that people should buy there tires from the tire rack, have them shipped to their favorite garage to be installed.

Jon, This mindset is one of the reasons that small business's are closing.

Why not buy your tires from your local tire dealer and let him install them.

If everyone buys from the Tire Rack, there will be no shops left to install your tires.

thanks,

john everett 212-265-1177

My name is Kenneth Edelstein, and I am a Notary Public. I was using Google search to find the phone number for Cybert Tire, and happened to notice the comments and reply from John at Cybert. I am 61 years old and have been going to Cybert since John was a little kid running around the shop in short pants. My experience with Cybert Tire has always been positive - for well over 30 years. I have had major work, tires, inspections, and tune-ups. In all cases there were never "suprises" or what would be considered inappropriate business practices. I have found their prices to be "middle of the road" neither low nor high. I do feel they are totally honest in their mode of operation - at times they gave me "bad news" about the need for an expensive repair/part - but always with an explaination and tour of the failing part. John and I both deal with the public - and many folks can be quite unreasonable. I have been asked to go from Manhattan to Howard Beach to notarize a document - for two dollars - and my "client" was very upset when I refused. To call the folks at Cybert "crooks" is just inaccurate, and unfair to an organization that has "played it by the book" in all my many years of experience with them. I cant see how you can call them "crooks" when they give you a price on the phone - if there was a "lowball" then a switch in price - when you arrived - that would be a different story. If you take the time to actually speak with John at Cybert - you will discover an honest and hardworking man with a family history of fair dealing with the public.
