Recently I have noticed an awful noise coming from my passenger side front tire/brake area while driving/turning left at very slow speeds. It sounds as if there is metal rubbing against metal, if I had to describe it I would say it sounds like someone dragging a metal shovel against the pavement, like a scrapping sound. It happens if my car has been sitting for a while and I start it up and drive slow, but as soon as I speed up it disappears and doesn't happen again until I pull into my driveway and turn to the left very slowly.

Anyone else have this problem, or know what it could be????

i had a similar problem and it turned out to be the front strut (mine was a squeaky sound the driver side and also only at low speed); I took my car to the dealership and they fixed it in 45 min;

Brake pads?

There are little metal tags on the pads that rub the disc when the pads wear low enough, they make this noise to let you know they need changing soon.

You could take the tags off and see if the noise continues or not. They're a push fit and there's one on each pad.

Stu.

I had this EXACT same issue with my Volvo last week when I bought it. Turns out it was the brake pad. I took it to my Volvo dealership and the tech realigned it. All is well now.

I heard the same noise. It's like a metallic shovel under my car at low speed. When I turned the ignition off and on again, it stopped.
I don't know what it was.
I heard it again after I got it from a regular service from my dealer.
I switched off the car and switched on and the sound stopped again.

i had something like your problem with a vw passat,it turned out to be the brake disc stone guard,it was warping when it got hot through lots of brake use(town driving)but when on a straight road it cooled and unwarped itself.
