Hello everyone. I've done some searches and can't seem to find any of this info.

I have an hu-613 radio with 6 stock speakers. The front door speakers are components, rear doors and rear deck are regular. I've read a little about a Volvo factory amp (pa-300) which is listed as a 4x75 amp. It seems like it is touted as compatible in my car but how can 4x75 do 6 speakers? How can I be sure it will wire up easily under the passenger seat?

Also Crutchfield and Cardomain both say on their websites that they don't sell speakers that fit anywhere in this car. Can that be true? If so how can I do a speaker upgrade and what sizes go where?

My dashboard has the grill in the center which looks like a speaker location. The hu-613 doesn't seem to have a 3 channel or pro-logic ability. Is there a speaker hidden under there? You know when you look at your radio's LCD from a certain angle you can see all the named functions even though they aren't lit up. Well on mine I can see the pro-logic function within that LCD. Is this just so Volovo only needs to make one LCD for all their radios or does it mean that there is a way to actually turn on this function?

Finally, how do I remove the rear deck speakers? I can't seem to find anywhere on the web that explains how to get the rear deck apart and the speakers out.

The PA-300 is a digital amplifier, meaning compared to a normal amp that has usually RCA or high-level inputs, the amp is connected to the HU digitally by a Coaxial cable. I ran a few wires yesterday, and I have yet to find if that cable is somewhere in the factory harness.

Crutchfield does sell speakers for the car, But it depends on where you want to put them.

I just looked at that grill yesterday and yes thats where the center channel would go. Luckily volvo had a empty mount for their speaker so after some tooling with a dremel I got it to fit a Infinity Ref. 6012i. Now just need to build a small proccesser and I'll have pseudeo 5.1. The headunit the LCDs are the same. The head units in general are different and even with the small electronic components I doubt you can convert a 613 to a 805.

The rear deck speakers are actually closer to sub-woofers and IIRC they are i think 8". Which is not really standard except for subwoofers.

Removing the deck is a good 5 minute proccess if you know what your doing. But its a pain in the butt. Mainly cause you need to remove the side cushions, and C/D post panels. Both of which expose the Inflatable Curtain and SIPS systems. Also you would have to unbolt the seatbelts from the body. Just watch what you do, where you step, etc. and cause your exposing the air bags and sensors follow the normal rules you would while around explosives and consider them to be live.

I'll have to write something up quick, on taking it out but after you do it once its a breeze. Just dont lose any screws.

Yeah that's the kind of thing I'd like to see some pictures on. I don't really like the idea of setting off the rear airbags.

BTW where would my radio code be located?

And does unhooking the battery assure me that the airbags won't go off in my face?

Ya, disconnect it, wait about 5 minutes and everythign will power down. The only problem is that you cant test the speakers with the power out!. Which is why I don't usually unplug the battery.

You can get your radio code by calling the dealer and providing your VIN number. You may need to do some sweet-talking to get it, but they should give it to you.
