I have an '87 760 Turbo wagon, and it still has the old tape-player & equalizer in it. When listening to the radio, I have to set the equalizer to a key setting to hear anything, i dunno if this is because the antenna is missing, or just if the stereo is blown to hell. Im going to put a CD player in, but I dont want it so i have to keep adjusting the equalizer to make it listenable.
I dont want to just rip the equalizer out, and leave a big hole in the dash, but is there a way to fix this, or disable the thing so it wont interfere?
Also, If i were to just a cassette adapter for a CD player/iPod, do you think I would still have this problem? and if not, if anyone has done this, is the sound quality good?

get the cubby hole replacement thing with the built in ciggarette lighter from a junker, thats what origionally was in the equalizer spot. and you'll also need a thing to fit your new stereo in, i think crutchfeild has them.

i went to crutchfield.com, and i typed in the model/year of the car, and the gave a list of stereos that "fit". Do you know if the "fit" part means that i wont need the thing to place the stereo in, or that it'll just work in general...
and if i leave the equalizer in, do you know if itll still work with the CD player
