Does anyone have instructions or advice on the fitment of the Volvo steel Dog Guard to a 1992 940 estate. I have located the pre-installed bolt holes for the pivot but, I need to know the placement sites and orientation for the four (two large, two small) black retention clips which respectively hold the guard in either the open (up) or closed (down) position. Thanks

I don't know how to mount that guard, but I suggest that you skip the guard and just tie the dog to the bumper....

I have one of those on my 91 940, unfortunately its at my mother in laws wairing for some work to be done and got through its MOT, from memory 2 clips are on the back of the seats, and the other two somewhere up high to hold it in the up position, I will try and get photos next time I visit it (may be a few days).

On our '92 960, the two large clips are mounted tab down on the seat backs approximately in line with the inboard edge of the rear headrests. The small clips are mounted mid-way along the rear glass, centred widthways on the trim above the glass. They have the large part of the hook towards the front of the car.

To properly locate them all, I would suggest you mount the gate first to determine where the clips should go to not interfere with the wire mesh portions and to firmly engage the main bars.
On both ours and our friend's car, it takes a good shove to engage the gate into either set of clips (in fact only one clip actually ends up doing the work it seems, but that's due to a bad install or movement over time I suspect)
