hey people,

i'm new and just wanted to say hello. i need to get my volvo towed, but i can't even get it out of the driveway:

here's the deal...i can't get my key to go in the key hole. the metal shield that covers the slot is stuck and won't slide out of the way anymore. As a result, i can't even put my car into neutral to roll it out of our narrow driveway (so the tow truck can get to it). sounds messed up huh?

let me know if you have any ideas. is there a way to get the tranny into neutral without putting the key into the ignition???

is there a way to bypass the key system? (i.e. from underneath the steering column)

thanks.

btw...the car is a 1998 G70

I'm assuming u mean C70....

Try WD40 or something similar. No way of getting inside from the trunk, or picking the lock? If nothing else, and u cant get in, call a flat bed. They will pull it up onto the bed...

this is the ignition key hole. it seems to be jammed...and the driveway is too narrow for a tow truck to get to it.

Sorry, thought u meant u couldnt get in the car...

If WD40 didnt work, I dont know. A tow guy will know how to get the car in neutral without the key. Ive seen it done from underneath the engine bay, and from openig the hood. Then u can at least roll it out...
