Hi everyone,

I have a 2005 S40 2.4i and I did notice a funny noise coming from the engine, most noticeable at idle. The noise come from a 2 inch vent identified with a circle on this picture.

If you ever ear it, have somebody touching it will in the car and you will ear the difference. I notice that on three brand new S40, and there were all the same. I don't know how to solve this except putting on some electric tape.

I'm I the only one earing it ?

I've heard a rattling noise, and I'm wondering if it is the same issue. I've worried that it's the engine, but didn't hear it when I got out of the car. I will check this out tonight.

Hi Hamboy ,
i had a similar noise originating from the same very part and i took my car to the dealer (bostonvolvo) and they fixed it in no time; they told me something about a loose thing (i dont remember); i do remember that the noise use to go away each time i would press my hand against that black thing; when i showed them the "trick" they just nodded like it was something very obvious (maybe to them); My rattling noise was not very loud though ( the radio/cd had to be off to hear it); My car is the same 2005 2.4i S40
