Hi from Melbourne, Australia. I've owned my 2004 S40 2.4 since new. My first 'european car'. I love it. However, I've had a recent 'issue' at around 30,000km which remains unresolved. I get a very noticeable vibration through the steering when I brake. Frustratingly this doesn't happen all the time (and not when the service guys drive it!) It usually happens when the brakes are quite warm and feels like a warped disc. The service guys say the discs are fine although one mechanic who drove it agreed it felt like a warp in the disc. The volvo dealer attributes the vibration to the sensitive steering on uneven surfaces?
Has anyone else had this problem?
Cheers.

Has the tech measured the lateral runout on the rotor surface and the hub with a dial indicator?

Thank you for reply, starfish. I'll check your suggestion but I'm fairly sure the measurements came out OK and this is why the service guys said the discs were OK. Let's face it.... if there was an opportunity to replace something and/or add some service hours (and squeeze me for a bit more 'hard earned cash') I think they would have done so!!! ;-). Cheers.
