Just bought a used T5 AWD and have noticed a periodic rattle when going from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd ONLY!? The shifting is actually quite smooth and you do not hear anything through the higher gears. It almost sounds like something might be loose...anyone one have a similar experience or thoughts on what it might be?

I just posted a similar question today (July 25). Is your "rattle" kind of like
a clunk when shifting at slower speeds? Mine makes noise and I am not
sure it makes the noise at fast speeds, because with all the other noise it
might be muffling the clunking noise when shifting. But at slow speeds it
makes the sound all the time. My wife thought it was my shifting or not
putting the clutch in all the way! I call it, a clunking through the gears.
I'm going to ask the dealer.

Yeah, it basically sounds like you can hear the gears engaging. We took it in and they said it was "normal". The other thing is that the loudness and quality of the sound is not consistent, Sometimes I hear it, sometimes I don't...

I'm going for a second opinion, and will let you know how it goes. It's more annoying than anything else because the car is a very quiet/solid ride otherwise!

Just got it back from the shop...the "shift cables" were not adjusted correctly so they re-adjusted, cleaned the transmission fluids and she now sounds as solid as she feels!!

There were also a few recalls I was unaware of...fuel line and e-brake adjustment.
