Hello,
I just bought my 2006 S40 a week ago. They only had a few left and none of them had the aluminum center and door trims. So I bought the aluminum trim set off of ebay and they'll be coming in a few days.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to remove the center and the door trims? I don't see any screws or anything. I'm gonna start prying away at it soon, but maybe one of you guys know how to remove them properly.

Thanks! :)

The door trims are removed by prying the piece up. Insert a plastic trim stick below it and as you firmly grip the stick with one hand, slap the bottom of your palm hard with the other hand and the bezel will pop up. The screws holding the switch in can now be removed.

The console piece is a little more difficult. The ignition key needs to have been shut off for a few minutes to allow the different systems to go to sleep. this includes keeping the doors shut so no interior lights are illuminated. Remove the 12 volt outlet bezel by prying it up to access the two T25 torx head screws that hold the lower part down.

There are two tangs on each end of the black radio bezel that will need to be pushed back to release the bezel. This can be difficult. Insert a small screwdriver into the CD player slot at a almost parallel angle to the slot. I like to do the leftside first. You will need a plastic trim stick to insert at the top outer corner of the bezel to pry it out as you try to push the plastic tang back. Once out lift the left lower corner of the bezel up and out gently.

Reinsert the screwdriver into the CD slot on the rightside and push that tang back as you pry out the right top corner. Once the bezel is removed the radio display will need to be removed. Gently insert the plastic trim stick behind it and try to pry it out being careful not to damage the dash or the display. Once it is out disconnect the fiber-optic connectors and then remove the two T25 torx screws.

The console pod can now be lifted out and the climate control wiring connection can be released. Once the pod is out take out all of the screws on the backside to remove the shell. Use care when installing the display as to not bend or distort the screen and damage it by only pushing in on the four corners.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

VicSta,
