Hello,

I have just begun to notice that the dashboard cover for the airbag has begun to lift on the top front corners. It is a minor problem but is really annoying considering the dash and etc... is in mint condition. Is it possible to re-glue it back using something like epoxy OR should a dealership or qualified Volvo tech. do it for me?

Thanks,

Matt

I would send it to the dealers so that the warranty wont expire.

Afterall, these are amongst those that you MUST count on to WORK when they are expected to.

Warranty on a '93 ampangbear?

How has it begun to lift...was it origionally sealed down? is it just a rubber cover on something plastic? or is it all rubber/plastic and held in by clips, and the corners are bending from heat/sun ?

Dont think it will be covered by warranty. If it was anything but the airbag cover, I would do it myself. IMO, go to the dealer to be safe...

The corners are lifting due to heat and sun. Can I just glue it back in place?

i don't see how a little low strength glue would affect an airbag...i'd just check with a reputable mechanic to see what they would do...

A write-up on how to replace the cover yourself can be found here:

Sorry, what I meant by warranty is that, if the dealers do the Airbag works, they typically come with a warranty. If they changed the airbag unit for instance, the warranty is for 10-years.

One would want to avoid cases where an accident happens, and the airbag fails to deploy as expected causing worse injuries. When Volvo is approached for explanation or replacement, they found that since the airbag was installed by a non-dealer, hence they cannot give a warranty coverage for it.

The same way as any other lesser-tenure Volvo original part. Independent or specialists work are not recognised by Volvo.
