Has anyone experienced this problem:

My '65 122s with rebuilt engine and tranny (5000 miles on rebuild) has started making unusual sounds in 2nd and 4th gears. The problem is most noticable when the tranmission is cold. It is not a grating sound, it sounds like breaks dragging, but coming right from the transmission tunnel. Also, it tends to make the noise when i let off the gas. I have checked leaks from the transmission but there are none. Any suggestions?

If memory serves, there are 2 sychros in the m40, 1st & 3rd and 2nd & fourth

The syncho may be hanging up
