I am planning to install BT kit on my new V50 with audio package. How does Volvo BT kit does with Treo 650 GSM? Is it a good BT kit at all ? Any alternatives to original Volvo Hands free kit?

Please, share your thoughts and experience.

Thanks.

Not sure at your dealer, however, at mine the purchase & installation of the BT Volvo device is quite expensive. Therefore I went for a $30 BT headset which does the job and I can use it outside of the car as well.

Hi everyone,

As I was saying to our friend from New Jersey (admannj) The Volvo kit is actually a Motorola. There was one on sale on eBay, and the seller had put links to the following documents that you may find useful:

https://tcg.motorola.com/global/volvo/docs/...lity_matrix.pdf

For more detailed information regarding the Volvo Bluetooth Kit visit the link below.

http://www.volvocars.us/NR/rdonlyres/8C657...inal120805t.pdf

(you may need to cut and paste the links in your browser, then save a copy of the downloaded PDF. You also need Adobe Acrobat and the IE6 plugin, downloadable foree at Adobe website)

There's better solutions than that. In my Jetta (two cars ago) I had a Parrot CK3100 that comes with a backlit display/command module small enough to fit within your dashboard (hence not spoiling the uncluttered design of the dashboard), and has voice dialling and caller display, which the Motorola kit cannot offer (there's no display). The Parrot software is user-upgradeable with a Bluetooth-enabled laptop, so new phones coming out should not make your phone kit obsolete.

Info on USA-available Parrot kits on http://www.parrot.biz/usa/products/index.php?id=advanced

Whatever you do, have your installer put a conveninetly located phone charger outlet, to charge the phone when in the car ... all these BT kits consume a lot of battery power, as BT on the phone transmits continuously, so you will fiind your phone battery life decreasing considerably.

I'll tell you more once I take delivery of the car (next week)

Hope this helps

AlexM
