I am looking to buy a new car and amongst others test drove a 2000 2.3 t5. I fell in love with it almost immediatly but it was an automatic and i really would prefer a manual. So i started looking around. There are plenty 2.4GT's in manual but aside from the strange 45hp loss over the 2.3 what other differences are there? Brakes? Seats? Why is the 2.4 less power and is it the extra 45hp that important?
I would guess the 2.4 is more torquey with maybe a lower pressure turbo? I have looked around but cant find anything useful (0-60 times dont mean allot in the real world) thanks for any help. |

I've only tried these in automatic, but chose the T4 over the T5. The T5 is quicker and alot more aggressive,and has an overdrive button. Apart from that there is't any difference in the specs that I could find. The T4 is't a slouch and I got the leather and suede interior which looks alot better than the all leather.It's just slower, uses less petrol, and a lower insurance group. I love it. Good luck. yea the difference between the 2.3 and 2.4 is 2.3=high pressure Turbo and 2.4=LPT, not to sure any thing added on might just be the different tuning.

I have a 2.3 hpt and I remember it should have about 238 hp. Can't swear as to the hp # of the lpt, just remember it was a little less.
