I am looking to change from 2 seater soft top to 4 seater so took out the new C70 for a test drive and am very impressed. Are there any issues I should be aware of before placing my order?

In my humble opinion l don't like it and the reviews that l have read in Autoweek only gave it a so so review.

The new Seabring is the same car for a lot less.

I think that it looks good, but I really like the s40 as well, and I am a bit of a Volvo stalwart. They have already sold out the 2006 quota in Australia (where Volvo's still have a bit of a stodgy image), so it looks to be a popular car.

One thing that I think could be a real nuisance is that, because it has a metal roof, (I understand) you have to be fully stopped for 30 seconds before you can put the roof up, and then it will take another 30 seconds to go up. Doesnt sound like much, but it would seem like 5 minutes.

The other thing is that the roof mechanism will have a fair amount of strain on it from the weight, so it would be interesting to see if there are failures. I bought the new s40T5 as soon as it came out, and had a few niggly problems with it (as you tend to with a brand new model). It can take the gloss of the purchase a bit when you have to take it into Volvo 3 or 4 times to have something fixed, because the problem/car is new to them.

If you are happy with that, go for it - and get the t5 - same engine as the s40T5 which is a ripper (although you wont be able to get it in an AWD).

im not really a fan of how it looks, but thats a matter of taste I guess, if you like it then cool, I havent got anything techo to add apart from the fact that I can't believe they didnt take the op to throw in an awd train, with that i might consider the HPT. Id like to take one for a drive thou, just to feel, I remember years ago taking the c70 t5 convertible for a drive, just didnt feel right when pushed, like it was going to bend or snap, the coupe was much better.
